The Short Version: We collect only what we need to make Havyn work. We never sell your data. You can delete your account anytime. We're serious about protecting Irish families' privacy.
1. What Information We Collect
Information You Give Us
- Account Info: Your email address and password (encrypted)
- Child Details: Age or date of birth (to help you search for appropriate creches)
- Search Preferences: Your location searches and saved filters
- Application Tracking: Which creches you've contacted, follow-up dates, and notes you write
Information We Collect Automatically
- Usage Data: Which features you use, how often you open the app
- Device Info: Your phone type (iPhone/Android), iOS version, app version
- Crash Reports: If the app crashes, we get an anonymous error report so we can fix it
- Location (Optional): Only when you use the map feature, and only when you allow it
What We DON'T Collect: We don't access your contacts, photos, or messages. We don't track your location in the background. We don't know your child's name or personal details.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Make the app work: Show you nearby creches, track your applications, send follow-up reminders
- Improve the app: Understand which features are helpful, fix bugs, make things better
- Keep it secure: Prevent fraud, protect your account from unauthorized access
- Communicate with you: Send important updates about the app (you can opt out of non-essential emails)
We will NEVER sell your data to third parties. We will NEVER share your application tracking with creches unless you explicitly tell us to.
3. Who We Share Your Information With
We share limited information with:
Service Providers We Trust
- Supabase: Securely stores your account and application data (based in EU, GDPR compliant)
- Sentry: Receives anonymous crash reports when the app breaks (no personal data)
- Mixpanel: Gets anonymous usage stats to help us improve features (no personal data)
- Apple: Handles push notifications for follow-up reminders (only with your permission)
When Required by Law
We may disclose information if required by Irish or EU law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
Who We DON'T Share With: Advertisers, data brokers, marketing companies, or anyone else. Period.
4. Your Rights Under GDPR
As an Irish/EU resident, you have these rights:
- Access: See all the data we have about you
- Correction: Fix any wrong information
- Deletion: Delete your account and all data (right to be forgotten)
- Export: Download your data in a readable format
- Object: Stop us from using your data for certain things
- Restrict: Limit how we use your data

5. How We Protect Your Data
- Encryption: All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest
- Secure Storage: Data stored on EU servers with GDPR compliance
- Limited Access: Only essential team members can access user data (and only when necessary for support)
- Regular Security Audits: We test for vulnerabilities regularly
- Password Protection: Your password is hashed and never stored in plain text
6. Children's Privacy
Havyn is for parents/guardians only. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 16. The app is designed for adults seeking childcare, not for children to use.
We collect your child's age/date of birth only to help you find age-appropriate creches. This information is never shared and can be deleted anytime.
7. How Long We Keep Your Data
- Active Account: We keep your data as long as your account is active
- After Deletion: When you delete your account, we remove all personal data within 30 days
- Anonymized Data: We may keep anonymized usage statistics (no way to identify you)
- Legal Requirements: We may keep some data longer if required by law (e.g., tax records)
8. Cookies & Tracking
In the Mobile App: We don't use cookies. We use standard mobile analytics to improve the app (see Section 1).
On Our Website: We use only essential cookies for the website to function. No advertising or tracking cookies.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy occasionally. If we make significant changes, we'll notify you via:
- Email to your registered address
- In-app notification
- Update notice when you open the app
The "Last Updated" date at the top shows when changes were made.
